I didn’t know how necessary empathy was in my friendships until I got older. I also was unaware how many individuals aren’t familiar with it. However, I do know I need it in friendships I expect to evolve and grow. The ability to understand things when you are not at the focal point from a place of compassion and to extend grace unconditionally when it is not at your benefit are not easy traits to find in others. That’s why true friends are few but I stand grateful and by that non negotiable.
Also, maturing is learning you can’t love and care people into showing you the same love. It will come naturally if they indeed care for you.
